About the position

The Market Showroom Interior Designer at Ashley Furniture is a pivotal role responsible for the aesthetic and functional design of the Ashley Furniture Showrooms. This position entails a comprehensive approach to space planning, furniture layout, and construction tailored to the specific needs of each division within the company. The designer will oversee the entire process of showroom setup, which includes determining product orders, managing transfers, tracking inventory, and executing the physical setup of the showroom. Each division periodically undergoes construction, necessitating the designer to create detailed drawings, solicit bids, and collaborate with contractors to ensure the showroom meets the highest standards of presentation and functionality. In addition to the physical setup, the designer will be responsible for all wall finishes, including faux finishes, paint, and wallpaper, as well as flooring changes. The role requires close collaboration with divisional Vice Presidents to develop effective floor plans for upcoming markets, ensuring that the final presentation aligns with the company's vision. The designer will also travel to various furniture markets, taking ownership of the design and buildout process of motion showrooms, which is crucial for showcasing Ashley's products effectively. The position demands meticulous attention to detail, as the designer will maintain showroom inventories before and after all markets, conducting physical inventories to ensure accuracy. They will also be responsible for ordering and tracking all Ashley products per division for market showroom displays, ensuring timely delivery and proper presentation. Collaboration is key, as the designer will work with various teams, including Research & Development, graphics, and product designers, to bring their interpretations of product displays to life. Additionally, the designer will coordinate the movement of products for photography, ensuring that the correct pieces are available for promotional materials. Overall, this role is integral to the success of Ashley Furniture's market presence and requires a blend of creativity, organization, and leadership skills.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the overall look of the Ashley Furniture Showroom per division, including space planning and furniture layout.
  • Determine product orders, manage transfers, track inventory, and oversee the physical setup of the showroom.
  • Create detailed drawings and solicit bids for showroom construction, collaborating with contractors as needed.
  • Select wall finishes, including paint, wallpaper, and flooring changes for the showroom.
  • Work with divisional Vice Presidents to develop floor plans for upcoming markets and ensure final presentation meets company standards.
  • Travel to furniture markets to oversee the design and buildout process of motion showrooms.
  • Maintain showroom inventories before and after all markets, conducting physical inventories to ensure accuracy.
  • Order and track Ashley products for market showroom displays to ensure timely delivery and proper presentation.
  • Collaborate with various teams to interpret product displays and plan furniture layouts for upcoming markets.
  • Coordinate the movement of products for photography and ensure the correct pieces are available for promotional materials.
  • Work with showroom leads, Vice Presidents, temporary workers, and contractors to set up the showroom for opening day.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years in an Interior Design related field, preferably in retail.
  • At least 1.5 years of relevant work experience in paid social advertising.
  • Experience in Showroom Design, Space Planning, Floor Planning, or Interior Design.
  • Proficient in computer-assisted design/drafting equipment, such as AutoCAD or Revit.
  • Prior experience with space planning and retail design is a plus.
  • Ability to give direction to temporary work crews and manage multiple projects simultaneously within established time constraints.
  • Proficient computer skills, including experience with Microsoft Office Suite and internet applications.
