About the position

The Interior Design Planner at The Ohio State University Health System Shared Services is responsible for interior space planning and programming, including documenting space modifications, participating in construction project teams, and directing relocations and moves. This role supports OSUWMC branding initiatives and wayfinding frameworks, ensuring effective procurement strategies and standards for furniture and interior spaces are created and applied. The planner coordinates furniture estimates and vendor input, and is involved in all aspects of interior facility planning, including design implementation, budgeting, and project management.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in all aspects of interior facility planning including design implementation, site visits, and installation.
  • Create and apply standards for furniture and interior space.
  • Coordinate furniture estimates and obtain vendor input.
  • Monitor project budgets and timelines for applicable portions of the work.
  • Review design documents and specifications, regulatory requirements, and procurement timelines.
  • Provide relocation coordination and identify and prioritize alternates.
  • Collaborate with vendors and associate architects on project scopes related to interior space.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Interior Space Planning, Interior Design, Architecture, Construction Design, or a similar field.
  • 2 years of relevant experience in space planning or design.
  • Proficiency with Computer Aided Design software (AutoCAD, Revit) and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel).
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite, Autodesk Visualization tools, PowerPoint, Photoshop, and Microsoft Project is desired.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of regulatory codes applicable to clinical, office, and research environments.

Nice-to-haves

  • Professional certification/registration is a plus but not required.
  • Experience in a multidisciplinary academic medical center or complex organizational environment is desirable.
  • A track record of working in 24/7 clinical environments is desirable.
