About the position

The Interior Design Planner at Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center is responsible for interior space planning and programming, suggesting and documenting space modifications, and participating in construction project teams. This role is integral to advancing the organization's branding initiatives and wayfinding frameworks, ensuring effective procurement strategies, and creating standards for furniture and interior spaces. The planner coordinates furniture estimates and vendor input while managing multiple projects and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in all aspects of interior facility planning, including design implementation, site visits, and installation.
  • Develop project scopes related to interior space, integrating furniture and branding components compliant with OSUWMC standards.
  • Monitor project budgets and timelines for applicable portions of the work.
  • Review design documents, specifications, regulatory requirements, and procurement timelines.
  • Coordinate relocations and moves, ensuring timely documentation of relevant activities.
  • Collaborate with vendors and associate architects on various projects.
  • Create and apply standards for furniture and interior space based on customer requests.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Interior Space Planning, Interior Design, Architecture, Construction Design, or a similar field.
  • 2 years of relevant experience in space planning or design.
  • Proficiency with Computer Aided Design software (AutoCAD, Revit) and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel).
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite, Autodesk Visualization tools, PowerPoint, Photoshop, and Microsoft Project is desired.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of regulatory codes applicable to clinical, office, and research environments.

Nice-to-haves

  • Professional certification/registration in a relevant field is a plus.
  • Experience in a multidisciplinary academic medical center or complex organizational environment is desirable.
  • A track record of working in 24/7 clinical environments is desirable.
