About the position

The Interior Design Professional at HOK is responsible for basic interior design assignments and collaborates with the project team to assist in completing various project phases. This role involves modifying production drawings, correcting design documents, developing solutions to design problems, and incorporating sustainable design solutions into projects. The position may also include mentoring less experienced staff and preparing presentation drawings.

Responsibilities

  • Modify and prepare production drawings during the design development phase.
  • Correct and update design documents.
  • Develop solutions to technical and design problems following established standards.
  • Incorporate Integrated Sustainable Design solutions into projects.
  • Mentor and direct the work of less experienced staff.
  • Prepare 2D and 3D presentation/design drawings.
  • Build models for client/project team review.
  • Compile data and perform elementary design computations.
  • Foster a green workplace through sustainable work practices.
  • Commit to external and internal client service.

Requirements

  • Basic hand and computer-aided design drafting skills.
  • Space planning skills and an interest in programming.
  • Basic knowledge of design, trends, construction methodology, materials application, and manufacturer-supplier appropriateness.
  • Basic knowledge of furniture, fixture and equipment (FF&E), architectural/interior finishes, lighting, art signage, color, and materials.
  • Basic knowledge of building regulations and safety codes.
  • Basic knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.
  • Knowledge of sustainability, integrated design, and LEED guidelines.
  • Knowledge of buildingSMART, Building Information Modeling (BIM), and Integrated Project Delivery (IPD).
  • Proven ability to prioritize to meet deadlines and provide high-quality service to clients.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Proficiency in Deltek Vision, MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), Newforma, AutoCAD/Architectural Desktop, and Revit.
  • Knowledge of 3D Modeling software such as 3D Studio Max and Viz 2006, and graphic software like Photoshop, Illustrator, Sketchup, and InDesign.
