About the position

The Interior Design Project Manager at Princeton University's Office of Capital Projects is responsible for managing a diverse portfolio of interior design projects, focusing on academic and administrative spaces. This role involves collaboration with various stakeholders to ensure successful project execution, from furniture selection to large capital projects, with an emphasis on quality and adherence to design standards.

Responsibilities

  • Represent the University's interests throughout the design, selection, procurement, and implementation process.
  • Coordinate the University's efforts and communication plan for projects, including users, leadership, stakeholders, and external consultants and contractors.
  • Manage project programming, planning, and design.
  • Develop designs utilizing University FF+E (furnishings, finishes + equipment) Design Standards.
  • Conduct risk management for projects.
  • Schedule and budget projects effectively.
  • Source, bid, and procure FF+E.
  • Maintain client relations and communication throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Organize and lead project meetings.
  • Oversee project installations and ensure successful project punch and close out.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Interior Design or Architecture from an accredited higher education institution.
  • Minimum of seven years of interior design experience, including project management, in the Interior Architecture/Interior Design Industry.
  • Strong project management skills, including defining scope, preparing and managing project budgets, and delivering projects on schedule.
  • Ability to lead and work successfully within a cross-functional team.
  • Creative, self-motivated designer with significant technical ability.
  • Strong knowledge of materials and specifications, furniture sourcing, and vendor resources.
  • Basic knowledge of sustainability, ADA, and LEED guidelines.
  • Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills, specifically with senior management, clients, consultants, and contractors.
  • Ability to self-prioritize work and operate within a highly charged dynamic work environment.
  • Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and/or Revit, Adobe programs, Blue Beam, Sketch-Up, In-Design, and MS Applications (Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint).

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in Higher Education interior design experience, studio and/or in-house.
  • Licenses and Professional Accreditation (LEED AP, PMP, NCIDQ).
  • CPM certification.
  • Experience in Revit.
