About the position

Princeton University's Department of Facilities is seeking an Interior Design Project Manager to join a dynamic team responsible for managing multiple interior design projects. This role involves collaboration with various stakeholders to ensure successful execution of projects ranging from small office furnishings to larger capital projects, with a focus on academic and administrative spaces.

Responsibilities

  • Represent the University's interests throughout the design, selection, procurement, and implementation process.
  • Coordinate the University's efforts and communication plan for projects, including users, leadership, stakeholders, and external consultants.
  • Manage project programming, planning, and design.
  • Oversee project governance and risk management.
  • Develop designs utilizing University furnishings, finishes, and equipment standards.
  • Schedule and budget projects effectively.
  • Source, bid, and procure furnishings, finishes, and equipment.
  • Maintain client relations and communication throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Conduct project meetings and oversee project installations.
  • Manage project punch and close-out processes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Interior Design or Architecture from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of seven years of interior design experience, including project management.
  • Strong project management skills, including scope definition, budget management, and scheduling.
  • Ability to lead and work within a cross-functional team.
  • Creative and self-motivated with significant technical ability.
  • Strong knowledge of materials, specifications, and vendor resources.
  • Basic knowledge of sustainability, ADA, and LEED guidelines.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, particularly with senior management and clients.
  • Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, Adobe programs, Blue Beam, Sketch-Up, In-Design, and MS Applications.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in higher education interior design.
  • Licenses and Professional Accreditation (LEED AP, PMP, NCIDQ).
  • CPM certification.
  • Experience in Revit.
