About the position

The Entry-Level Commercial Interior Designer position at Senior By Design is an exciting opportunity for individuals passionate about design and eager to grow their careers in a dynamic environment. This boutique interior design firm specializes in high-end senior living and multi-family commercial projects, emphasizing creativity and collaboration. The role involves assisting in various design tasks, working closely with senior designers, and contributing to impactful projects that enhance living spaces.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the design and planning of senior living and multi-family commercial projects.
  • Work closely with senior designers on space planning, FF&E selection, and project documentation.
  • Develop Revit models for design proposals and construction documentation.
  • Collaborate with project teams and clients to ensure designs meet their needs and expectations.
  • Prepare and present professional design proposals with Senior Designers to ownership/investors.
  • Ensure spaces are functional, safe, and beautiful by determining space requirements and selecting decorative items.
  • Attend construction documentation/design reviews with senior designers, architects, owner/operators.
  • Complete interior finish schedules, furniture plans, and all selections for community buildings.
  • Understand SD Schematic Design, CD Construction Design, and DD Design Development phases in commercial design.
  • Attend design reviews with Senior Designers for job direction.
  • Follow the direction of the PM and Design Director.
  • Perform other design-related responsibilities as they arise.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Interior Design (not Graphic Design).
  • Proficiency or educational experience in Revit is a must.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • A positive, can-do attitude with a passion for learning and growing in the field.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively interact with colleagues, clients, and vendors.
  • Proficient in the Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Acrobat).
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytic, and organizational skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Interior Design experience (1 year preferred).
  • SketchUp knowledge and skill.
