About the position

As a Mid-Level Interior Designer at Gensler, you will leverage your creativity and technical expertise to create functional and aesthetically pleasing spaces for clients. This role requires a strong background in architecture or interior design, along with exceptional design skills and a portfolio showcasing innovative concepts. You will be an integral part of a collaborative team, fostering a respectful and inspiring design environment while maintaining a strong reputation in the design community.

Responsibilities

  • Perform interior design assignments including interpreting client's needs, space planning, conceptual design, and construction documentation.
  • Make independent judgments in evaluating and modifying standard techniques and procedures.
  • Participate in the selection and presentation of furniture, fabrics, equipment, color palettes, and lighting.
  • Produce mood boards, material palettes, and design presentations with minimal supervision.
  • Create furniture plans, specifications, and schedules for construction documentation independently.
  • Generate designs using 3D modeling software such as Revit, Enscape, Rhino, and Sketchup.
  • Develop interior finishes, reflected ceiling plans, elevations, details, and specifications for construction.
  • Provide design support and documentation during the execution of design concepts.
  • Collaborate with external consultants, product representatives, and fabricators.
  • Guide and mentor junior designers.
  • Contribute to office activities, initiatives, and learning programs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or related field from an accredited school.
  • 5+ years of interior design experience.
  • NCIDQ Certification required.
  • Proficient in Revit, Enscape, and other modeling software; Sketchup is a plus.
  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite applications (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign).
  • Expertise in furniture, finishes, materials, color selections, and specifications.
  • Strong graphics and visualization skills to communicate design ideas effectively.
  • Demonstrated commitment to sustainability and sustainable building practices.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with LEED, Living Building Challenge, WELL Building Standard, Fitwel, and/or Net Zero Building certification.
