As a Mid-Level Interior Designer at Gensler, you will play a crucial role in merging creativity with technical expertise to create functional and aesthetically pleasing spaces for our clients. This position requires a strong foundation in interior design, complemented by a background in architecture. You will be expected to showcase your exceptional design skills through a portfolio that highlights innovative design concepts. Your ability to foster a collaborative and inspiring design environment is essential, as you will be an integral part of your team, contributing to a culture of respect and creativity. In this role, you will undertake various interior design assignments, which include interpreting client needs, space planning, conceptual design, schematic design, design development, and construction documentation. You will be responsible for making independent judgments in evaluating and adapting standard techniques and procedures to meet project requirements. Your tasks will also involve selecting and presenting furniture, fabrics, equipment (FF&E), color palettes, and lighting solutions. You will produce mood boards, material palettes, and design presentations, either independently or with minimal supervision. Your expertise in hospitality furniture and finishes, as well as custom furniture and lighting solutions, will be critical to your success. You will generate designs using 3D modeling software such as Revit, Enscape, Rhino, and Sketchup, creating digital 3D views to effectively communicate design concepts. Additionally, you will be responsible for generating interior finishes, reflected ceiling plans, elevations, details, specifications, and material selections necessary for construction documentation. You will provide design support throughout the execution of design concepts and collaborate with external consultants, product representatives, furniture dealers, and fabricators. As a mentor, you will guide junior designers and contribute to office activities and learning programs.
