About the position

The Interior Designer for Healthcare at HOK is responsible for interpreting, organizing, and executing the conceptual design of healthcare projects. This role requires creativity and foresight to meet project requirements and objectives, ensuring that designs are practical, aesthetic, and safe while reflecting client goals and adhering to project budgets. The designer will lead all phases of design projects, maintain client relationships, and ensure compliance with HOK standards and sustainability practices.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct programming efforts such as space planning, layout, and utilization of furnishings and equipment.
  • Develop innovative design concepts that are practical, aesthetic, safe, and conducive to intended purposes.
  • Implement all phases of a design project including contracts, budgeting, scheduling, planning, design, documentation, specifications, and construction.
  • Maintain positive client relationships and keep clients apprised of project progress.
  • Initiate and maintain contracts with key project individuals for clarification and coordination.
  • Estimate material requirements and costs, solicit bids, and assist in subcontracting fabrication and installation.
  • Lead the Construction Administration phase, responding to RFIs, COs, and reviewing shop drawings.
  • Manage project using Deltek Vision, including work plans, budget, consultants, and project change notices.
  • Ensure project documentation and contracts comply with standards set by the Technical Board.
  • Incorporate Integrated Sustainable Design solutions into projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in architecture, interior design, or foreign equivalent.
  • Professional Interior Designer with NCIDQ exam passed or registered Architect with current license.
  • Prior experience in interiors projects required.
  • LEED credential required within 6 months of employment.
  • Advanced knowledge of design principles and ability to interpret design concepts and layouts.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, AutoCAD, Revit, and 3D modeling software such as 3D Studio Max.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of buildingSMART, Building Information Modeling (BIM), and Integrated Project Delivery (IPD).
  • Proficiency in Newforma preferred.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
