About the position

HOK is a collective of future-forward thinkers and designers who are driven to face the critical challenges of our time. We are dedicated to improving people's lives, serving our clients and healing the planet. Together, we cultivate a culture of design excellence at the confluence of art and science, blending the power of creative expression with a clear sense of purpose. We are currently seeking an Interior Designer to join our team. As an Interior Designer, you are responsible for interpreting, organizing and executing the conceptual design of a project. Utilizing creativity, foresight and judgment to meet project requirements and objectives through project completion. In this role, you will conduct programming efforts such as space planning, layout and utilization of furnishings and equipment, lighting and color coordination. You will develop innovative design concepts that are practical, aesthetic, safe, and conducive to intended purposes and function, reflecting client goals and staying within project budgets. You will implement all phases of a design project, which includes contracts, budgeting, scheduling, planning, design, documentation, specifications, and construction, including the selection and specification of furniture. Maintaining positive client relationships throughout the project is crucial. You will keep clients apprised of project progress on a regular basis and initiate and maintain contact with other key project individuals for clarification, coordination, and negotiation of critical issues. You will also be responsible for estimating material requirements and costs, soliciting bids, and assisting the Project Manager and client in subcontracting fabrication, installation, and arrangement of the materials, finishes, and furnishings required. Additionally, you will lead the Construction Administration phase, responding to RFIs, COs, reviewing shop drawings, and being involved in field site reviews. Your responsibilities will also include managing projects using Deltek Vision, ensuring compliance with HOK Standards, and incorporating Integrated Sustainable Design solutions into projects. You will take personal responsibility for fostering a green workplace through sustainable work practices. As part of a team, you will render conceptual design ideas, prepare 2D and 3D presentation/design drawings, and coordinate color and material palettes. You will communicate with consultants, contractors, sub-consultants, and other disciplines to ensure project details are carried out, including technical issues and project information at all levels of contract administration. You may assist in design presentations and mentor less experienced staff, while also exploring new opportunities to enhance professional services with existing clients.
