About the position

The Interior Designer position at a mid-sized architecture firm in Boston, MA, focuses on creating functional and aesthetically pleasing interior spaces. The role involves collaborating with clients to understand their needs and translating those into detailed design proposals while ensuring compliance with building codes and regulations. This position offers a hybrid work model, allowing for both in-office collaboration and remote work flexibility.

Responsibilities

  • Develop efficient layouts that optimize the use of space while considering functionality and aesthetics.
  • Create design concepts and develop them into detailed plans, including color schemes, materials, furnishings, and lighting.
  • Meet with clients to understand their needs, preferences, and budget constraints, translating their vision into design proposals.
  • Research and select materials, finishes, and furnishings that align with the project's vision and budget.
  • Use CAD software to produce detailed drawings and 3D models of interior spaces.
  • Ensure that designs comply with local building codes, safety standards, and accessibility guidelines.
  • Oversee the execution of interior design projects, coordinating with contractors and vendors, and managing timelines and budgets.
  • Conduct site visits to monitor progress and ensure that design specifications are being implemented correctly.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in interior design or architecture.
  • Bachelor's degree in architecture.
  • Proficient in Revit software.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Experience with public safety and/or K-12 projects.
