About the position

The Interior Designer I position at The Michaels Organization involves contributing to the design and execution of multifamily interior projects. The role emphasizes collaboration, creativity, and attention to detail, with responsibilities ranging from project design reviews to the preparation of construction documents. The designer will work closely with senior staff and clients to create dynamic interior experiences that align with the company's mission of enhancing community living.

Responsibilities

• Conduct project design reviews, charettes, and pin-ups.
• Prepare designs based on general direction or concepts developed with senior staff.
• Produce design presentations for client review at various project stages.
• Prepare interior design construction documents.
• Take field measurements of existing conditions.
• Provide construction phase services, including field observation, submittal review, and answering RFIs.
• Research, select, and produce FF&E presentations for client review.
• Produce book format furniture specifications, including custom fabrication.
• Generate FF&E estimates.
• Manage project tasks, including compiling data and organizing files.
• Communicate with consultants and clients.
• Travel as required for meetings and FF&E installations.

Requirements

• 3-5 years of experience in a relevant design firm environment.
• Bachelor's degree in Interior Design, Interior Architecture, or equivalent education.
• Strong knowledge of 3D BIM software (ArchiCAD or Revit), SketchUp, Enscape, Adobe Creative Suite, and Microsoft Office.
• Understanding of building codes and guidelines (ADA, FGI, etc.).
• Familiarity with programming, contract documents, field observations, and measurements.
• Knowledge of life safety requirements and furniture specifications.

Nice-to-haves
