The Interior Designer II position at CannonDesign is designed for individuals who possess a blend of design and technical skills, and who are eager to collaborate within a multi-disciplinary team. This role is integral to project teams, working under the direct supervision of designated project leadership. The primary responsibilities encompass a wide range of tasks throughout all phases of project development, including Programming, Schematic Design, Design Development, Construction Documents, and Construction Administration. The designer will assist the Senior Interior Designer and/or Project Manager in executing project goals with limited direction, ensuring that all design elements align with the overall vision and objectives of the project. In this role, the designer will be involved in the development of design concepts, including planning and three-dimensional studies. They will independently contribute to the design development and documentation of interior spaces, producing detailed drawings such as floor plans, reflected ceiling plans, elevations, and details. The designer will also support the Senior Interior Designer in selecting and specifying furniture, fixtures, and equipment (FFE) throughout the various phases of the design process. Adherence to project timelines, cost constraints, and quality standards is essential, as is the ability to identify and apply relevant building and life safety codes to the design work. The position also requires the preparation of renderings and presentation materials, participation in client meetings to enhance client interaction and presentation skills, and involvement in construction administration activities, which may include site visits and reviewing submittals and shop drawings. Mentoring less experienced interior design staff is also a key aspect of this role, as is promoting design quality and understanding the proper application of materials. The designer may be called upon to perform other duties as required, contributing to the overall success of the project and the firm.
