About the position

The Interior Designer II position at CannonDesign focuses on both design and technical aspects, contributing to a multi-disciplinary team. The role involves collaboration with design and technical leadership, assisting in various project phases, and mentoring less experienced staff. The designer will be responsible for developing interior spaces, producing drawings, and ensuring compliance with building codes, all while maintaining high design quality.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Senior Interior Designer and/or Project Manager with project execution throughout all phases.
  • Develop design including planning and three-dimensional studies.
  • Independently assist in design development and documentation of interior spaces.
  • Support Senior Interior Designer with furniture, fixtures, and equipment (FFE) selection and specifications.
  • Produce drawings in conformance with project time, cost, and quality constraints.
  • Identify, research, and apply building and life safety codes to interior design work.
  • Prepare renderings and presentation materials.
  • Follow CannonDesign drawing standards.
  • Participate in client meetings to gain interaction and presentation experience.
  • Engage in construction administration activities, including site visits and review of submittals.
  • Mentor less experienced interior design staff and provide guidance in project document development.
  • Actively promote design quality and understand proper application of materials.

Requirements

  • Bachelor in Interior Design, Interior Architecture, or Bachelor in Architecture required.
  • Minimum of 4 years of related experience required.
  • Current NCIDQ certification is preferred.
  • Strong creative design portfolio is essential.
  • Proficiency with Revit, Enscape, Bluebeam, Microsoft Office, and Adobe Creative Suite required.
  • Strong communication, teamwork, presentation, graphics, and organizational skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with construction administration activities.
  • Familiarity with building and life safety codes.
