About the position

The Intermediate Interior Designer at HLW International LLP plays a crucial role in collaborating with senior design staff and project teams to develop and execute design concepts for various projects. This position requires a blend of design creativity and technical proficiency, ensuring that client needs are met while adhering to project timelines and budgets. The designer will engage in both 2D and 3D design work, prepare presentations, and support project management efforts under the guidance of senior team members.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Design Director and/or Senior Designer on project design and technical aspects.
  • Draw project elements proficiently, including 2D and 3D studies.
  • Prepare design presentations in collaboration with senior team members.
  • Compile, organize, and send drawings and files with transmittals.
  • Assist in organizing information for the project team.
  • Read and understand project criteria and goals.
  • Manage time effectively to perform tasks within specified time frames.
  • Communicate and ask questions of other team members to contribute to project advancement.
  • Support external presentations and communications with the Client Team under guidance.

Requirements

  • Degree in Architecture or Interior Design from an accredited institution.
  • 5-10 years of professional design experience.
  • Registered or actively pursuing US Registered Architect or NCIDQ Certified Interior Designer (preferred).
  • LEED accreditation (preferred).
  • Excellent communication, graphic, and verbal presentation skills.
  • Proficient in computer graphics software including AutoCAD, Revit, and 3-D Modeling Software (e.g., Enscape or Rhino).
  • Familiarity with AI Tools including Midjourney and Stable Diffusion (preferred).
  • General understanding of building and ADA codes.
  • Knowledge of the current LEED rating system and/or other sustainable initiatives.
  • Working knowledge of construction and furniture costs to design within established budgets.
  • Ability to coordinate and integrate MEP systems into projects.

Nice-to-haves

  • Familiarity with AI Tools including Midjourney and Stable Diffusion.
  • LEED accreditation.
