About the position

The Intermediate Interior Designer at HLW International LLP plays a crucial role in collaborating with senior design team members to develop and execute design projects. This position involves both creative and technical responsibilities, ensuring that client needs are met while adhering to project scope, schedule, and budget. The designer will engage in various tasks, including preparing design presentations, managing project documentation, and supporting external communications with clients.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Design Director and Senior Designer on design projects.
  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of project requirements and design character.
  • Draw project elements proficiently, including 2D and 3D studies.
  • Prepare design presentations in collaboration with senior team members.
  • Compile, organize, and send drawings and files with transmittals.
  • Assist in organizing information for the project team.
  • Read and understand project criteria and goals.
  • Manage time effectively to perform tasks within specified time frames.
  • Communicate and ask questions of team members to advance the project.
  • Support external presentations and communications with the Client Team under guidance.

Requirements

  • Degree in Architecture or Interior Design from an accredited institution.
  • 5-10 years of professional design experience.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD, Revit, and 3D modeling software (e.g., Enscape, Rhino).
  • Excellent communication, graphic, and verbal presentation skills.
  • Familiarity with AI tools such as Midjourney and Stable Diffusion (preferred).
  • General understanding of building and ADA codes.
  • Knowledge of the current LEED rating system and sustainable initiatives.
  • Working knowledge of construction and furniture costs.
  • Ability to take initiative in developing project scope and finding solutions.

Nice-to-haves

  • Registered or actively pursuing US Registered Architect or NCIDQ Certification (preferred).
  • LEED accreditation (preferred).
  • Familiarity with material and furniture sourcing and bid processes.
