About the position

DLR Group is seeking a creative and innovative Interior Designer to lead projects primarily in the K-12 and Education sectors. This role involves collaborating with an integrated design team from pre-design through construction administration, focusing on delivering high-quality educational environments. The successful candidate will mentor junior staff, manage client interactions, and oversee design presentations, ensuring a collaborative and respectful work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate on the design of projects from pre-design and programming through construction administration.
  • Lead project design efforts and client interactions.
  • Mentor younger staff and foster a collaborative work environment.
  • Set vision and direction for design concept presentations and material palettes.
  • Estimate fees, determine scope of work, and prepare proposals and contracts.
  • Share thought-leadership throughout all phases of the design process.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Interior Design, Interior Architecture or equivalent.
  • 4+ years of commercial design experience with expertise in Education (K-12 or Higher Ed).
  • Proficiency with Revit, Adobe Creative Suite, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Proficiency with SketchUp and some 3D rendering software.
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong leadership and team building skills.
