About the position

The Interior Designer position at Living Spaces is primarily focused on providing exceptional service to in-store guests through a selling strategy that aligns with the company's Guest Engagement Model. This role emphasizes the importance of interior design in enhancing customer experiences and involves servicing scheduled design appointments that may arise from various channels, including in-house requests and commercial business interactions. The designer will analyze the information collected regarding each project to understand the specific requests and constraints of the guests, ensuring that their design needs are met effectively. In this role, the designer will greet and engage guests, utilizing sales proficiency to determine their goals and requirements for their design projects. They will provide relevant design advice, product knowledge, and tailored product recommendations to create customized room designs. This includes presenting sample fabrics, furniture, tables, and accessory options that align with the guests' vision. The designer is expected to maintain a current knowledge of merchandise lines, including product features, benefits, and availability, to ensure informed recommendations. Additionally, the designer will be responsible for processing customer transactions through the Point of Sale system and completing required training within the expected timeframe. Ongoing learning opportunities are encouraged to enhance skills and knowledge. The designer will actively support the store team in achieving revenue targets and ensuring that the store is always “Grand Opening” ready by completing daily task lists and style guides. The position requires flexibility to work weekends and most holidays, reflecting the fast-paced retail environment.

Responsibilities

  • Greet and engage guests using the Living Spaces Guest Engagement Model.
  • Determine guests' goals and requirements for their design projects.
  • Provide relevant design advice, product knowledge, and product recommendations.
  • Present customized room designs, including sample fabrics, furniture, tables, and accessory recommendations.
  • Maintain current knowledge of merchandise lines, product features, benefits, and availability.
  • Master product knowledge and brand design inspiration.
  • Process customer transactions in the Point of Sale system.
  • Complete required training in the expected timeframe and participate in ongoing learning opportunities.
  • Actively support and contribute to the store team to help achieve revenue targets.
  • Ensure the store is 'Grand Opening' ready by completing daily task lists and style guides.

Requirements

  • Associate degree (A.A. or A.S.) or equivalent from a community college or four-year college in interior design.
  • 1-2 years of experience in a customer service, retail, or furniture store environment.
  • Experience in Microsoft Office programs is required; knowledge of design software programs is a plus.
  • Vocational certificate or degree in interior design is preferred.
  • Must successfully complete the internal certification program at Living Spaces.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in sales is a plus.
