About the position

Walt Disney Imagineering is the creative force behind the design and development of Disney theme parks, resorts, attractions, and cruise ships worldwide. The Interior Design family plays a crucial role in shaping the interior spaces of these venues, focusing primarily on restaurants, retail spaces, theaters, and attraction queues. This position involves a comprehensive scope of work that includes everything from conceptual design to contract documentation and field installation, ensuring that all materials and furnishings meet the high standards expected at Disney. As an Interior Designer, you will support various phases of projects, from concept through to field installation, by assisting with technical documentation. Your role will involve providing design support through graphic illustrations, imagery boards, color renderings, and 3D digital models for concept presentations. Additionally, you will be responsible for producing research documentation on assigned projects and performing various documentation tasks related to color and material design, as well as FF&E (Furniture, Fixtures, and Equipment) design and specifications. This is a project hire position estimated to last 30 months, with no guarantee of permanent placement. A portfolio review is required for this position, and applicants must include a link to their portfolio on their résumé to be fully considered. This role reports to the Manager of Interior Design and is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the magic of Disney through innovative interior design.

Responsibilities

  • Support various phases of projects, from concept through field installation, by assisting with technical documentation.
  • Provide design support in the form of graphic illustrations, imagery boards, color renderings, and 3D digital models for concept presentations.
  • Produce research documentation on assigned projects.
  • Perform various documentation for color & material design and FF&E design and specifications.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience and working knowledge in the practice of interior design.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven thoughtful design, artistic skills, and professional judgment in problem-solving.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in REVIT and digital illustration tools such as Creative Suite, Illustrator, and SketchUp.

Nice-to-haves

  • A degree from an accredited interior design program (4-year program preferred).
  • Working towards passing the NCIDQ exam for certification or license.
