About the position

Urbano Design & Build is seeking a talented Interior Designer/Project Manager with 3-5 years of experience in high-end residential projects. The ideal candidate will have a background in an interior design studio and be well-versed in high-end, custom design processes. This role requires a positive attitude and a strong can-do mentality, as the successful candidate will be responsible for managing multiple tasks simultaneously while maintaining a high level of organization. The Interior Designer/Project Manager will oversee projects from schematic design through to installation, collaborating closely with the principal to develop design concepts. Responsibilities include preparing client presentations that incorporate the principal's design sketches and self-generated materials, which may include both 2D and 3D drawings. The designer will also be tasked with designing, sourcing, and presenting design ideas, utilizing a range of interior design finishes, fixtures, hardware, and lighting options, from vintage to custom items. In addition to design responsibilities, the role involves creating proposals, coordinating purchases, and managing the shipment of all items. The designer will work with vendors, fabricators, millworkers, and subcontractors to ensure accurate fabrication and timely installation. Daily management of FF&E sourcing to meet budgetary and timeline targets is essential, as is maintaining communication with clients and managing both internal and external deadlines. The ability to define and solve complex problems with a strong attention to detail is crucial, as is the organization and oversight of project installations.

Responsibilities

  • Manage projects from schematic design through installation.
  • Collaborate on developing the design concept for a project.

  • Design, source, and present design ideas using tools including interior design finishes, fixtures, hardware, and lighting.

  • Manage FF&E sourcing to target budgets and timetable on a daily basis.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited architectural or interior design program.
  • 3-5 years of experience in high-end residential projects.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD is a must.
  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite applications (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign).
  • Knowledge of physical and online showrooms and resources.
  • Interior architectural experience in all phases of the design process.
  • Must be able to work legally in the US.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Sketch-up or similar rendering software.
  • 4 years of experience in interior design (preferred).
