About the position

Closets by Design - Milwaukee is seeking motivated, sales-focused professionals with a creative eye and excellent interpersonal skills for the position of Designer. This role uniquely combines interior design with traveling sales, allowing Designers to meet with customers in their homes for pre-booked appointments. The primary responsibility is to work closely with customers to design their spaces and sell them organizational systems that enhance their homes. This position is remote, but applicants must reside within the state of Wisconsin, as travel is required for appointments across the state, as well as attendance at training sessions and monthly sales meetings at our office and showroom located in Mequon, WI. As a Designer, you will represent the face of Closets by Design, a company that has been providing superior custom storage solutions for nearly 40 years. Our services include custom design, manufacturing, and installation tailored to meet the specific needs of our customers. The role requires a blend of creativity and salesmanship, as you will be responsible for understanding the homeowner's vision, measuring their space, creating a design, pricing it out, and presenting it to the homeowner to close the sale. This is a unique opportunity for individuals who are passionate about design and organization and enjoy helping customers bring their visions to life. Ideal candidates will possess strong interpersonal and communication skills, organizational and time management abilities, and a fun, outgoing personality. The position thrives in a commission-based environment, allowing for significant earning potential based on performance. Designers will have pre-set appointments, eliminating the need for cold calling, and will receive paid training and ongoing support from the Sales Manager. Responsibilities

  • Travel across the state of Wisconsin to meet with customers for pre-booked appointments.
  • Work with customers to design their space and sell organizational systems.
  • Measure customer spaces and create design proposals.
  • Price out designs and present them to homeowners for sale.
  • Attend training sessions and monthly sales meetings at the office and showroom in Mequon, WI.

Requirements

  • Minimum 1 year of sales and/or customer service experience in a professional setting.
  • Interior design experience and/or education preferred but not required.
  • Tech-savvy with the ability to conduct business virtually/digitally.
  • Experience with design/drafting software (e.g., SketchUp, AutoCAD) is ideal but not required.
  • Reliable personal transportation, valid driver's license, and valid insurance are required.
  • Minimum schedule availability of 30+ hours per week.
  • Reliable personal computer and smartphone are necessary.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with design/drafting software such as Cabinet Vision or 20/20.
  • Passion for design and home organization.
  • Ability to thrive in a full commission/bonus sales environment.
