About the position

As a Senior Interior Designer with Gensler's Sports practice, you will lead the design of innovative sports facilities, combining creativity with technical knowledge and business acumen. Your role involves collaborating with a team to create functionally beautiful spaces, engaging in marketing efforts, and mentoring junior designers. You will be responsible for all phases of design from conceptualization to execution, ensuring high-quality outcomes that meet client needs.

Responsibilities

  • Lead interior design projects including programming client needs, conceptual design, schematic design, design development, space planning, and construction documentation.
  • Engage in marketing and business development efforts.
  • Participate in the selection and presentation of furniture, furniture systems, fabrics, equipment (FF&E), color palettes, and lighting.
  • Generate finish plans, specifications, and material selections needed for construction.
  • Provide design support and documentation during completion and execution of design concepts.
  • Work with external consultants, product representatives, furniture dealers, and fabricators.
  • Integrate new technology and tools on projects (AR, VR, computational design, etc.).
  • Foster and cultivate a culture of design in the office and strive to elevate design quality on projects. Inspire and mentor teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Interior Design.
  • NCIDQ/CID required.
  • 10+ years of interior design experience.
  • Demonstrated success delivering sports-related facilities (training facilities, arenas, stadiums, ballparks, etc.).
  • Passion and excitement for sports-related projects.
  • Comfortable in Revit, SketchUp, 3D Studio Max and other modeling software programs.
  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite applications (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign).
  • Knowledge of furniture, finishes, materials, color selections, and specifications.
  • Graphics and visualization skills to effectively communicate design ideas.
  • Demonstrated commitment to sustainability and sustainable building practices.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with LEED, Living Building Challenge, WELL Building Standard, Fitwel, and/or Net Zero Building certification.
