About the position

The Interior Designer position is a temporary appointment for 180 days at the GS-07 level within the Integrated Support Services (ISS) of the Library of Congress. The role focuses on updating floorplans and Revit models, ensuring compliance with AIA standards, and providing support to the library community in various facility services. The position is open to all qualified individuals and offers a flexible work schedule.

Responsibilities

  • Updating floorplans in AutoCAD to include revising layer names to AIA standard.
  • Applying correct layers to each element in AutoCAD.
  • Removing all unused layers in AutoCAD.
  • Replacing elements with repeatable blocks in AutoCAD.
  • Updating existing Revit models with correct data including new rooms and space data when AutoCAD backgrounds are revised.
  • Surveying spaces to capture existing conditions.

Requirements

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD (2023 preferred) and computer technology with proficiency in Excel.
  • Knowledge of layer management, including naming conventions per AIA standard and layer assignments per element type.
  • Ability to manage, organize, and execute projects effectively.
  • Experience in conducting site surveys and interacting collaboratively with all levels of an organization.

Nice-to-haves

  • Basic understanding of Revit Architecture up to 2023.
