About the position

M2 Studio is seeking a passionate Interior Designer to join their team in New Orleans, LA. The role involves collaborating on residential and contract projects, developing furnishing layouts, and preparing design presentations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in interior design, with a focus on affordable and sustainable design solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Developing overall furnishing layouts for residential and contract projects under the guidance of a senior designer or architect.
  • Researching and collecting details for furniture and finish cost estimates, compiling pricing from manufacturers and representatives.
  • Assisting in field surveying of project spaces and verifying site details to support design intent.
  • Preparing Concept Design presentations including rendered plans, section elevations, and Color/Material boards using Adobe Photoshop and SketchUp.
  • Rendering detailed floor plans and elevations independently.
  • Conducting product resource selection for ongoing and future projects.
  • Developing Furnishing, Color, and Material Boards, including materials, fabric, and imagery.
  • Producing specifications for all aspects of ongoing projects with the Project Manager.
  • Developing freehand sketches for preliminary design detailing and construction documentation with final review.
  • Coordinating construction drawings between clients, architects, and multiple consultants.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Interior Design, Interior Architecture, or a closely related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in interior design.
  • Familiarity with space planning methodology and construction documents.
  • Working knowledge of design principles and aesthetics.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop, Revit, Adobe InDesign, Adobe Illustrator, and Enscape.
  • Experience in creating construction documents and 3D sketches/renderings.
  • Familiarity with furnishings and finishes.
  • Ability to write FF&E and finish specifications using DesignSpec.
  • Knowledge of technical regulations and code compliance, including ADA requirements and IBC building codes.
