About the position

Ford Motor Company is seeking a highly creative and strategic Senior Interior Designer to join our design studios in Dearborn, MI. This role is pivotal in shaping the future of automotive design, particularly in the realm of Advanced and Production Interior projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing both conceptual and production-based interior solutions, utilizing skills in sketching, rendering, and creating 3D digital models. This position requires a blend of creativity, strategic thinking, and analytical skills to create compelling and innovative interior design experiences that align with Ford's vision for the future of mobility. As part of the Model E team, you will be at the forefront of delivering Ford's commitment to a fully electric transportation future. This team is characterized by its customer-obsessed, entrepreneurial, and data-driven approach, dedicated to providing an industry-leading customer experience for electric vehicle buyers and owners. You will collaborate with engineering, suppliers, and other partners to progress design development, ensuring that the interior designs not only meet aesthetic standards but also align with manufacturing processes and materials. In this role, you will explore human-centered design experiences with a strong emphasis on holistic interior design. You will coordinate the work of other design personnel to achieve cohesive design visions and create future brand-focused design concepts. Your ability to think digitally and physically will be crucial as you problem-solve around topics of connectivity, mobility, and consumer segments. Responsibilities

  • Develop both conceptual and production-based interior solutions in the form of sketches, renderings, and 3D digital models.
  • Create compelling and innovative interior design experiences and visions for design projects.
  • Explore human-centered design experiences with an emphasis on holistic interior design.
  • Coordinate the work of other design personnel to achieve cohesive design visions.
  • Create future brand-focused design concepts.
  • Problem-solve around topics of connectivity, mobility, and consumer segments.
  • Collaborate with engineering, suppliers, and other partners to progress design development.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in industrial design, transportation design, or a similar field of study, or a combination of education and equivalent experience.
  • 1+ years of automotive or transportation design experience, including experience with final design product execution.
  • 1+ years of experience translating 2D to 3D and thinking three-dimensionally with a strong emphasis on proportions and a refined sense of form.
  • A design portfolio (pdf) must be provided upon application to be considered.
