About the position

The Interior Designer will be responsible for the design and technical systems for large, complex projects from the schematic phase through to construction administration. This role requires a comprehensive understanding of building system concepts and the documentation process, ensuring that all phases of the project are executed effectively within the discipline. The designer will function as the discipline team leader on large projects when assigned, overseeing project team members and ensuring that all work aligns with the project goals and standards. In this position, the designer will prepare and monitor project status reports, conduct necessary code research, and perform material and product research to support project development. Attendance at project meetings is essential, as is the ability to interface with other discipline team leaders to ensure cohesive project execution. The designer will also be responsible for document interpretation and submittal reviews during the bidding and construction administration phases, ensuring that all documentation meets the required standards. The role requires monitoring staff to produce quality architectural and engineering services within a project team concept, and the designer will perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor. This position is critical in maintaining the integrity of the design process and ensuring that all aspects of the project are coordinated effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for building system concepts and documentation process from schematics through construction administration phases within the discipline.

  • Prepare and document required code research for project.
  • Conduct material and product research as required for project development.

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and licensure highly recommended.
  • LEED Accredited preferred.
  • Minimum six years' experience in A/E industry preferred.
  • Extensive knowledge of all aspects of professional services from schematic design through project close-out, including design and technical expertise.
  • A comprehensive understanding of the coordination aspects and related requirements of all design disciplines.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills, and strong organizational skills.
  • Possess the ability to motivate and mentor staff, and delegate work assignments.
  • Computer and CADD literate.
  • Very detail-oriented, self-motivated, enthusiastic and flexible.
  • Ability to work well with others under deadline situations.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with sustainable design practices.
  • Familiarity with project management software.
  • Knowledge of local building codes and regulations.
