About the position

As an Interior Designer at Cushing Terrell, you will be part of a multidisciplinary team dedicated to creating innovative built environments that enhance communities. This role involves leading design projects from inception to completion, mentoring junior designers, and collaborating with engineers and other professionals to deliver exceptional design solutions. Your work will contribute to the firm's vision of using creativity and knowledge to improve the world around us.

Responsibilities

  • Lead project design from inception to completion
  • Mentor and guide entry-level designers through all phases of projects
  • Collaboratively work with integrated engineering teams on various project types
  • Initiate, maintain, and develop relationships with clients, consultants, contractors, and suppliers
  • Constructively question and develop concepts, analyzing options and priorities
  • Work collaboratively with the project team to maintain design integrity
  • Communicate complex ideas simply and passionately
  • Perform analyses of design, planning, and occupancy studies
  • Create conceptual or detailed solutions that meet client priorities
  • Anticipate and deal appropriately with changing circumstances
  • Organize and lead meetings involving internal and external clients/partners

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree from a CIDA accredited university
  • 5-10 years of design experience in the Interior Design profession
  • Interior Design Licensure (NCIDQ or State) or working towards licensure
  • LEED accreditation is a plus
  • Strong communication skills with design teams, contractors, and clients
  • Ability to develop new business opportunities
  • Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, SketchUp, Adobe Suite, Microsoft Office, Bluebeam, and Outlook

  • Experience in a variety of project types and scales
  • Strong graphic communication skills
  • Ability to perform limited design layouts
