About the position

AODK is an award-winning architecture firm located in Cleveland, OH, seeking a highly energetic, self-motivated, and detail-oriented Interior Designer/Interior Architect to join our dynamic team. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work on a diverse range of projects, including corporate, commercial, educational, restaurant, hospitality, residential, and religious designs. We pride ourselves on our progressive approach to design and are looking for a talented designer who has a strong focus on contemporary design principles. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of related experience in interior design or interior architecture, along with a degree from an accredited program. A solid understanding of the design process is essential, including knowledge of furniture, fixtures, and equipment (FF&E), furniture systems, specifications, color, and materials. The candidate should possess excellent graphic presentation skills and the flexibility to manage multiple projects at various stages of development. Strong communication skills are crucial for efficiently conveying design ideas and directions to clients and team members. In this role, you will collaborate on projects from programming client needs to conceptual design, schematic design, and design development. You will participate in the selection of finishes, furniture, art, and specifications, and provide project team coordination for finish plans, specifications, and material selections required for construction. Additionally, you will assist in managing client expectations, team communication, and consultant coordination, while implementing all AutoCAD, Revit, and rendering software standards. Contributing to office activities, initiatives, and learning programs is also part of the job, along with managing the Resource Library and manufacturer updates and appointments.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate on projects including programming client needs, conceptual design, schematic design, and design development.
  • Participate in selection of finishes, furniture, art, and specifications.
  • Provide project team coordination for the finish plans, specifications, and material selections required for construction.
  • Participate in the construction administration of projects and review of submittals and finish samples.
  • Assist in managing client expectations, team communication, and consultant coordination.
  • Implement all AutoCAD, Revit and rendering software standards.
  • Contribute to office activities, initiatives, and learning programs.
  • Manage Resource Library and manufacturer updates and appointments.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of related experience as an Interior Designer/Interior Architect.
  • Degree in Interior Design or Interior Architectural Design from an accredited program.
  • Knowledge of the design process, including FF&E, furniture systems and specifications, color and materials.
  • Graphic presentation skills.
  • Flexibility to focus on multiple projects and project types in various stages of development.
  • Ability to efficiently communicate design ideas and direction.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, communication and relationship management skills.
  • Proficient knowledge of AutoCAD, Revit, Photoshop, SketchUp preferred.
  • Strong interior detailing and construction drawing documentation.
