About the position

Ford Motor Company is seeking a highly creative and strategic Senior Interior Designer to join our design studios in Dearborn. This role is pivotal in shaping the future of automotive design, particularly within the Advanced & Production Interior projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing both conceptual and production-based interior solutions, utilizing skills in sketching, rendering, and creating 3D digital models. As part of the Model E team, which is dedicated to delivering a fully electric transportation future, you will work collaboratively with an agile team focused on innovation and excellence in customer experience for electric vehicle buyers and owners. In this position, you will be expected to think creatively, strategically, and analytically to create compelling and innovative interior design experiences. You will explore human-centered design principles, emphasizing a holistic approach to interior design. Coordination with other design personnel will be essential to achieve cohesive design visions that align with Ford's brand identity. You will also engage in problem-solving around connectivity, mobility, and various consumer segments, ensuring that our designs meet the evolving needs of our customers. The role requires a strong foundation in industrial design or transportation design, with a minimum of one year of experience in automotive or transportation design, including final design product execution. You will need to demonstrate proficiency in translating 2D concepts into 3D models, with a keen eye for proportions and form. A design portfolio is required to showcase your capabilities and creativity. Responsibilities

  • Develop conceptual and production-based interior solutions in the form of sketches, renderings, and 3D digital models.
  • Create compelling and innovative interior design experiences and visions for design projects.
  • Explore human-centered design experiences with an emphasis on holistic interior design.
  • Coordinate the work of other design personnel to achieve cohesive design visions.
  • Create future brand-focused design visions that align with Ford's strategic goals.
  • Engage in problem-solving around topics of connectivity, mobility, and consumer segments.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in industrial design, transportation design, or a similar field of study, or a combination of education and equivalent experience.
  • 1+ years of automotive or transportation design experience, including experience with final design product execution.
  • 1+ years of experience translating 2D to 3D and thinking three-dimensionally with a strong emphasis on proportions and refined sense of form.
  • A design portfolio (pdf) must be provided upon application to be considered.
