About the position

The Interior Designer position at Altman + Barrett Architects focuses on integrating interior design concepts with architectural processes. The role involves preparing detailed contract documents, creating presentation materials, and developing graphic communication skills to effectively illustrate design concepts. The designer will work on various projects, particularly in educational facilities, and will be responsible for multi-tasking across different design fields while collaborating with vendors and contractors.

Responsibilities

• Exhibit understanding of interior design concepts and integration of the architectural design process.
• Participate in preparing contract documents, including floor plans, reflected ceiling plans, mill work design, and furniture layouts.
• Assist in creating presentation materials and models for client presentations.
• Develop graphic communication skills to illustrate design concepts.
• Produce marketing and presentation materials for current and potential clients, including RFP documents and design competition presentations.
• Communicate with other disciplines, vendors, and contractors to ensure incorporation of all information into project requirements.
• Prepare proposals and participate in interviews.

Requirements

• Degree in architecture, interior design, or related field.
• Registered Interior Designer and passed the NCIDQ exam encouraged.
• Previous design experience in educational facilities encouraged, including K-12 and Higher Education.
• Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, SketchUp, Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator is required.
• Strong organizational skills and work ethic.
• Minimum one (1) to three (3) years' experience with interior projects.
