About the position

Populous is a global specialized design firm known for creating some of the world's most memorable civic, sports, and entertainment buildings. We are seeking a passionate, creative, engaged, and technically proficient Interior Designer to join our dynamic and collaborative design atmosphere. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional design and technical abilities, with a strong interest in working within a diverse range of public assembly building types, including sports venues, convention centers, community buildings, and transportation facilities. In this role, you will work within a creative environment, providing design and documentation across all aspects of the interiors process, utilizing various media formats. Strong hospitality design experience is required, along with creative design thinking, spatial and environmental design ability, branding development, story creation, and graphic design sensibility. You will be responsible for managing multiple concurrent projects, demonstrating resilience in a fast-paced environment, and confidently interacting with clients while leading presentations and collaborative sessions. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include ownership of multiple projects, building partnerships, and directing large consultant teams. You will need to possess superior visual, written, and spoken communication skills to express concepts in captivating ways. Attention to detail is critical, as is the ability to create quick sketches to convey ideas effectively. The position requires a deep passion for design and the ability to work with minimal supervision while being open to direction.

Responsibilities

  • Provide design and documentation in all aspects of the interiors process.
  • Manage multiple concurrent projects with minimal supervision.
  • Interact confidently with clients and lead presentations and meetings.
  • Create quick sketches to convey and sell design ideas.
  • Demonstrate strong hospitality design experience and creative design thinking.
  • Build partnerships and direct large consultant teams.

Requirements

  • NCIDQ certification with 7+ years of relevant experience.
  • Master's or bachelor's degree in interior design, Interior Architecture, or Architecture.
  • Proficiency in Revit, Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign.
  • Rendering experience, both computer and freehand.
  • Strong conceptual design, organizational, presentation, and technical expertise.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in designing public assembly buildings such as sports venues and convention centers.
  • Strong sketching and freehand drawing skills.
