About the position

Haven Design|Build is seeking an Interior Designer to join our team in Durham, NC. This full-time position involves working on new construction and renovation projects for single-family homes, multifamily units, and small mixed-use or commercial spaces. The ideal candidate will facilitate the interior design process by collaborating closely with clients and project architects to understand the design intent, vision, and goals for each project. This role requires managing the selection process both externally with clients and internally with the project team, ensuring that all design decisions align with the overall project objectives. As an Interior Designer, you will be responsible for creating detailed and understandable interior design and selection documents for clients and the project team. You will assist project teams in problem-solving through design and construction phases, aiming to achieve high-quality design outcomes that meet project schedules and budget requirements. Additionally, you will create construction implementation guides to support in-field implementation of design and selection decisions, attend site visits as necessary, and coordinate with other design and construction professionals, including consultants and subcontractors. The role also involves identifying and assessing selection options and vendors for ongoing and future projects, as well as organizing and maintaining product samples and supplier information. This position is integral to ensuring that our projects not only meet aesthetic and functional requirements but also contribute positively to the communities we serve.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate the interior design process with clients, working closely with project architects to understand design intent, vision, and goals.

  • Create detailed and understandable interior design and selections documents for clients and project team.

Requirements

  • Associates or Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • Proficiency in Google Workspace, Revit, and Adobe Creative Suites.
  • Proficiency in Bluebeam and Sketchup.
  • Strong understanding of color theory and lighting principles.
  • Ability to serve clients within a variety of project scales, budgets, aesthetics, and preferences.
  • High level of organization and time management across a portfolio of active projects.
  • Ability to build effective relationships with clients to enhance their design experience.
  • Strong internal and external communication skills, including verbal, written, and graphic presentations.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with construction implementation guides.
  • Familiarity with project management software.
