About the position

As the Vice President of Design at Brashear Construction & Design (BCD), you will play a pivotal role in leading our Design Department. This position is crucial for the initial stages of various projects, where you will provide design consultations, create renderings, and develop mood boards to assist in closing deals with potential clients. Collaborating closely with our Director of Marketing & Sales, Alyssa Lee, and our Vice President of Sales & Operations, Brock Johnston, you will ensure that our design offerings align with client expectations and business goals. Once a client has chosen BCD, you will work alongside our Director of Operations, Michael Morgan, and Project Managers, including Daniel Leon, Ruben Martinez, and Sammy Martinez, to guide material selections, SKU numbers, sourcing, and overall direction to facilitate the ordering of necessary items for the build process. Your responsibilities will extend into the project execution phase, where you will participate in Day 1 planning meetings, conduct weekly follow-ups, and upload progress pictures into CompanyCam, acting as a liaison between clients and the rest of the BCD team. A key aspect of your role will be to maintain a strategic vision for BCD, ensuring that the company remains on course to achieve its goal of scaling to a minimum of $1 million per quarter, translating to $4 million annually. You will also partner with the Director of Marketing & Sales to plan networking events, trade shows, and other initiatives aimed at driving sales and enhancing the company’s market presence. In terms of financial management, you will be responsible for cash flow management, which is vital for the health of the business. This includes building a revenue-driven business model that generates cash flow on a daily and weekly basis, maintaining tight lines on deals by ensuring timely collection of deposits, progress payments, and final payments. You will also work on improving job site logistics to enhance project progress and prevent delays that could impact cash flow. As a visionary leader, you will attract and cultivate creative talent and experts who can help realize BCD's vision. This involves fostering a culture that aligns with the company’s goals and energizes the team. Effective communication will be essential, and you will conduct one-on-one meetings, phone debriefs, and weekly company meetings to ensure everyone is aligned and working towards common objectives. You will also be responsible for mentoring junior designers as they develop their portfolios with BCD. Your leadership will require personal growth and development, as you will need to guide your team through the journey of realizing the Big Picture Vision. This includes being actively involved in the construction process at job sites, attending relevant classes and workshops, and engaging with project managers to deepen your understanding of the field. You will hold project managers and operations directors accountable for their commitments, ensuring that everyone stays on track through regular site visits and verification tactics. Execution is where your vision will come to life. You will implement project management software to create written timelines, ensuring that project managers and subcontractors remain committed to delivering each phase of the project on time or ahead of schedule. A significant goal will be to generate 30%-50% of new business through referrals, showcasing the effectiveness of your leadership and the quality of BCD’s work.
