About the position

The Interior Detail Specialist for custom residential projects is responsible for developing detailed and accurate architectural drawings that reflect the unique interior design elements of custom homes. This role involves close collaboration with architects, interior designers, and clients to ensure that every interior detail is meticulously designed and represented, contributing significantly to the project's success. The specialist tailors designs to meet the homeowner's needs, preferences, and lifestyle, making them an integral part of the project team.

Responsibilities

  • Develop precise interior architectural drawings and plans for custom residential projects, focusing on personalized design elements such as custom millwork, cabinetry, trim, and bespoke furniture.
  • Collaborate with architects, interior designers, and homeowners to translate the client's vision and preferences into detailed architectural drawings.
  • Create detailed interior layouts, elevations, and sections that reflect the custom nature of the home, including the design of specialty rooms (e.g., home offices, wine cellars, entertainment spaces, etc.).
  • Specify materials, finishes, fixtures, and furnishings in the drawings to align with the design vision and homeowner's preferences.
  • Design and detail custom built-ins, such as shelving, closets, and kitchen cabinetry, ensuring the functionality and aesthetic align with the homeowner's needs.
  • Coordinate with contractors and tradespeople to ensure accurate execution of detailed interior elements during construction.
  • Revise and update drawings based on feedback from clients, interior designers, and architects, ensuring that every aspect of the design is tailored to the client's expectations.
  • Ensure that all drawings comply with local building codes, regulations, and industry standards while maintaining high levels of craftsmanship in detailing.
  • Support construction by providing technical expertise, answering questions, and resolving design issues related to the custom interiors.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in architecture, Interior Design, or a related field.
  • Strong experience with architectural drafting software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp), with an emphasis on custom residential projects.
  • Deep understanding of interior design principles and custom detailing specific to high-end residential homes.
  • Experience creating custom interior architectural details such as bespoke cabinetry, trim work, and specialty finishes.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with designers, clients, and contractors.
  • Strong attention to detail and a passion for craftsmanship and precision.
  • Knowledge of building codes, regulations, and residential construction standards.
  • Familiarity with luxury materials, finishes, and custom solutions used in high-end residential design.
  • Experience with millwork (kitchen and bath cabinetry, trim work, molding, etc.) design is a plus.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines.
