About the position

We are seeking a talented and innovative Residential Interior Architect/Designer to join our boutique firm and expanding team. This part-time position focuses on the design and drafting of all interior architectural and millwork designs and related specifications. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in Residential Interior Design and Project Management, demonstrating proficiency in various architectural software tools and in millwork/kitchen and bath design. This role involves collaborating with clients, outside architects, vendors, and contractors to create functional and aesthetically pleasing designs that meet client specifications and adhere to budgeting requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Meet with firm principal 1x per week in person to review project work.
  • Manage the timely production of drawing sets for internal needs.
  • Oversee and track distribution of drawings and specs to outside partners.
  • Visit projects regionally to check in on projects.
  • Write up meeting notes and follow through with problem solving and adjustments as needed due to adjusting site conditions.
  • Collaborate with firm and project teams in person and remotely to ensure communication and efficiencies.
  • At times, meet with clients to understand their needs and preferences, ensuring their vision is realized in the final design.
  • Utilize software such as AutoCAD to create detailed architectural drawings.
  • Work with KWI team to maintain document and file organization.
  • Conduct site visits and surveys to gather necessary data for design development.
  • Prepare design documents, including design drawings, millwork drawings, specifications, schedules to share with project partners and team.
  • Manage project timelines with greater teams through effective project scheduling to ensure timely completion of all phases.
  • Engage in business development activities to identify new project opportunities and maintain client relationships when needed.
  • Take part in the budgeting processes for projects, ensuring adherence to financial constraints while delivering high-quality designs.
  • Check and 'redline' outside vendor drawings to ensure core design goals are maintained throughout finished product.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Architecture, Interior Architecture or Interior Design.
  • 7 years of experience with AutoCAD.
  • 5 years of experience in Interior Design.
  • Strong understanding of millwork, bath, kitchen, and closet design.
  • Excellent project management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Strong communication skills for collaboration with clients, contractors, and team members.

Nice-to-haves

  • Proficiency in additional architectural software is a plus.
  • Experience with collecting and organizing specifications for lighting, plumbing, hardware, and interior architectural finishes.
