About the position

Fogarty Finger, an award-winning architecture firm based in New York City, is seeking an Intermediate Architectural Designer to join our ground up studio. This position is ideal for a candidate with strong design skills and a passion for architecture. The successful candidate will work closely with the project team and take ownership of significant aspects of multiple projects, which can vary in scale and complexity. The role encompasses design and production responsibilities throughout all phases of the projects, from initial concept through to construction administration. As an Intermediate Architectural Designer, you will be expected to develop construction documents with limited direction from senior staff while ensuring the accuracy of the Building Information Modeling (BIM) model. You will also need to demonstrate a solid understanding of architectural design details and applicable local codes. Effective communication and coordination with consultants, clients, and contractors are crucial, particularly during the construction administration phase where you will coordinate with various trades and consultants in the field. The ideal candidate will possess the ability to manage multiple assignments simultaneously, work under tight deadlines, and thrive in a fast-paced and rigorous environment. Strong organizational, communication, and collaborative skills are essential for success in this role. Responsibilities

  • Take ownership of significant aspects of multiple architectural projects.
  • Engage in design and production throughout all phases of projects.
  • Develop construction documents under limited direction from senior staff.
  • Maintain and improve the accuracy of the BIM model.
  • Communicate and coordinate effectively with consultants, clients, and contractors.
  • Coordinate with all trades and consultants during construction administration.
  • Manage various assignments simultaneously and meet deadlines.

Requirements

  • 3 to 6 years of relevant post-graduate US experience in architecture.
  • Professional architectural degree from an accredited institution.
  • Proficiency with Revit, AutoCAD, and Adobe Creative Suite; familiarity with Sketchup is a plus.
  • Experience in taking a significant role on projects from initial concept through construction administration.
  • Ability to develop construction documents with limited direction.
  • Working knowledge of architectural design details and applicable local codes.
  • Strong design, communication, organizational, and collaborative skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and rigorous environment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Familiarity with Sketchup.
