About the position

WSP USA is seeking a highly motivated Intermediate Electrical Engineer to join their multidisciplinary Process Infrastructure and Design team. This role involves preparing electrical design drawings and specifications, performing engineering calculations, and collaborating with internal clients to ensure project objectives are met. The position offers opportunities to work on diverse projects in environmental infrastructure, renewable energy, and industrial facilities, with a focus on professional growth in a dynamic environment.

Responsibilities

  • Independently prepare electrical design drawings and specifications considering safety, construction, and operations.
  • Perform engineering and design calculations for cables, sizing major electrical equipment, lighting, grounding, etc.
  • Prepare design drawings and documents in power distribution and control systems, including motor controls schematics and PLC panel layouts.
  • Design overall power systems and develop electrical one-lines, plan drawings, installation details, and wiring diagrams.
  • Travel to various client sites, attend project meetings, and conduct field reviews (approximately 25% travel).
  • Liaise with internal clients to ensure project objectives are managed and achieved.
  • Support project management personnel with regular reporting, scheduling, staffing planning, and coordination.
  • Use ETAP, SKM, or other power system study software.
  • Participate in regular project meetings to ensure quality client delivery.
  • Work collaboratively with the Electrical and Instrumentation Design Team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited program.
  • Minimum of 3 - 5 years of relevant experience in electrical engineering consulting.
  • Experience in creating engineering and design packages for electrical and controls disciplines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Proficient with AutoCAD 2D/3D and Revit.
  • Accountable for results and adaptable to changing project needs.
  • Possesses integrity, strong work ethic, positive attitude, and dependability.
  • Highly motivated team player with personal initiative.

Nice-to-haves

  • NCEES Engineer in Training / Professional Engineering License strongly preferred.
  • Prior internship related to the degree of study and specific engineering discipline.
  • Design-Build project execution experience.
  • Minimum five years of electrical engineering experience with mining, industrial, water treatment, and municipal facilities projects.
