About the position

The Intermediate Information Systems Security Officer at Base-2 Solutions is responsible for maintaining the operational security posture of assigned systems and programs. This role involves providing guidance on security matters, developing continuous monitoring programs, and ensuring compliance with security policies. The officer will also manage security documentation, conduct configuration management, and assess the effectiveness of security controls.

Responsibilities

• Maintain the operational security posture for assigned systems, programs, and/or enclaves.
• Provide guidance and technical expertise on security matters affecting the information system.
• Assist in developing and executing a continuous monitoring program to minimize security risks.
• Develop, update, and submit the System Security Plan and Security Authorization Package documentation.
• Conduct configuration management for security-relevant changes to software, hardware, and firmware.
• Perform security impact analyses of changes to the system or its operational environment.
• Assess the effectiveness of system security controls on an ongoing basis.
• Maintain and enforce IT security policies and implementation guidelines.

Requirements

• 10 years of related work experience in security authorization.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology Engineering, or a related field (may substitute 4 years of experience).
• Working knowledge of security authorization processes defined in RMF and familiarity with NIST SP800-37, ICD503, CNSSI1253, SP800-53.
• Knowledge of commercial security tools and their uses.
• Experience with hardware/software security implementations.
• Knowledge of communication protocols, encryption techniques/tools, and PKI.
• Familiarity with security incident management and collaboration with Incident Response Teams.
• Experience creating and presenting documentation and management reports.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience working with the XACTA IA Manager.
• Highly analytical with effective troubleshooting and prioritization skills.
