About the position

As an Intermediate Interior Designer at Innovative Office Solutions, you will play a crucial role in delivering creative and effective design solutions for our clients. This position is based in either Duluth, MN or Minneapolis, MN, and you will be part of a dynamic team that collaborates closely with Account Executives to meet customer needs. Your primary responsibilities will include engaging in the discovery process to understand client requirements, assisting in site measurements, and articulating the benefits of various design products. You will also be responsible for budget pricing, maintaining the design library, and ordering samples as necessary. In the solutions phase, you will utilize your problem-solving skills to select appropriate designs and products, create customer presentations using PowerPoint, and ensure effective communication with Account Executives to guarantee project success. You will be involved in producing drawings and product specifications, obtaining installation quotes, and navigating contracts to provide the best pricing options for customers. Your role will also include responding to RFP documentation, final pricing, and installation documents, as well as filing completed projects. Teamwork is essential in this role, as you will receive direction from the Design Manager and will be expected to collaborate with co-workers, share ideas, and assist walk-in clients in selecting furniture. You will need to prioritize your workload while maintaining a customer-first attitude and a positive demeanor. This position requires a blend of creativity, technical skills, and interpersonal abilities to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Work with Account Executives to sell smaller jobs or assist on larger projects.
  • Assist Account Executives with site measurements and inventories.
  • Articulate the benefits of using one product over another to solve design problems.
  • Help maintain the design library and stock appropriate tools.
  • Order samples as necessary for client presentations.
  • Build and maintain working relationships with vendors and vendor representatives.
  • Attend vendor updates and continuing education units (CEUs) for professional development.
  • Problem solve through design and product selection.
  • Create customer presentations using PowerPoint.
  • Maintain open communication with Account Executives to ensure project success.
  • Produce drawings and product specifications for client projects.
  • Obtain installation quotes as needed for project planning.
  • Respond to RFP documentation and prepare final pricing and installation documents.
  • File completed projects and maintain organized records.
  • Work with walk-in clients to select furniture and incorporate inventory into proposals.

Requirements

  • 2 - 4 year Interior Design degree
  • 4+ years of relevant work experience
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office products, AutoCAD, CET, CAP / Worksheet, and 2020 Visual Impressions
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail
  • Excellent persuasive and interpersonal skills
  • Effective written and oral communication skills
  • Reliability and punctuality in work performance
