About the position
The Naval Nuclear Laboratory is seeking an experienced engineer to join the Future Irradiations Examinations (FIX) unit. This role involves designing irradiation experiments and examination equipment capabilities for the future, contributing to the technical vision of the examinations enterprise, and collaborating with a diverse, cross-functional team. The successful candidate will play a key role in developing well-documented technical bases for designs and supporting cost-benefit assessments.
Responsibilities
- Design irradiation experiments and examination equipment capabilities.
- Collaborate with the FIX lead engineer and materials test sponsors.
- Develop well-documented technical basis for designs.
- Contribute to setting the technical vision for future examinations.
- Support cost-benefit assessments.
- Interface with coworkers using modern collaboration tools.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or science related field and 2 years of relevant experience; or
- Master's degree in engineering or science related field and 1 year of relevant experience; or
- Currently or previously EOOW qualified in the Nuclear Operations Program; or
- SRE qualified.
Nice-to-haves
