About the position

The Intermediate Network Administrator / Engineer, Level II is responsible for providing IT support and services to SAF/SA networks, ensuring high network availability and stability. This role involves managing network equipment, user accounts, and server environments, as well as performing regular backups and software installations. The position requires a focus on compliance with security protocols and effective communication with government representatives regarding network access and downtime reporting.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a 98% network availability for all SAF/SA Networks, reporting downtime in the Monthly Status Report.
  • Reconfigure network switches as necessary and manage port activation/deactivation for proper connectivity.
  • Provide access to data storage information for outside agency users as directed by the government representative.
  • Monitor servers to ensure a stable environment and server availability.
  • Add user accounts and set group and file permissions.
  • Create, manage, and troubleshoot user accounts and network access issues.
  • Manage, install, and troubleshoot all network equipment, including printers and scanners.
  • Manage group policy settings and perform daily backups for all servers.
  • Install required software programs using System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM).
  • Configure and maintain the Storage Area Network (SAN) environments.
  • Administer and maintain the Windows Software Update Server (WSUS) for software updates and hotfixes.
  • Manage the VMWare environment, ensuring virtual servers are kept patched as needed.
  • Administer and install required Server Certificates mandated by the Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) Team.

Requirements

  • CompTIA Security+ certification
  • CCNA certification
  • Experience in network administration and engineering
  • Strong troubleshooting skills for network and server issues
  • Knowledge of VMWare and SAN environments
  • Familiarity with System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) and Windows Software Update Server (WSUS)
