About the position

As an Intermediate Site Reliability Engineer at PointClickCare, you will play a crucial role in bridging the gap between development and operations. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure the reliability, scalability, and efficiency of our systems and applications. This position involves maintaining system uptime, automating processes, and implementing best practices in site reliability and system administration. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize system architecture and drive operational excellence, with the autonomy to enhance infrastructure performance for our healthcare solutions.

Responsibilities

• Administer Linux networks, preferably Ubuntu or other Debian-based distributions.
• Set up servers and services in both on-premise and cloud infrastructure.
• Continuously improve processes and systems using tools like Puppet, Nagios, and Splunk.
• Administer and maintain VMware environments.
• Manage iSCSI storage in a HPE Nimble environment (a plus).
• Work with Dell hardware in an on-premise environment.

Requirements

• Deep understanding of Debian-based Linux distributions and their configurations, file systems, and management.
• Proficiency in scripting languages like Bash, Python, or Perl for task automation and process improvement.
• Strong grasp of networking concepts, including TCP/IP, firewalls, DNS, and routing.
• Knowledge of Linux security protocols and practices, including user permissions and access controls.
• Ability to use monitoring tools (like Nagios, OpsGenie, or Prometheus) to analyze system performance and optimize resources.
• Expertise in implementing and managing backup and recovery strategies.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with Azure Cloud and Infrastructure as Code best practices.
• Knowledge of Puppet Configuration Management.
• Experience with Identity Access Management in a Service Provider role.
• Windows Active Directory Administration.
