About the position

The Intermodal Operations Specialist at Remprex LLC is responsible for managing customer freight for intermodal rail and yard movement. This role involves a variety of tasks including yard operations, clerical duties, load planning, and customer service, all performed in a fast-paced outdoor environment. The specialist will work closely with team members to ensure safe and efficient operations while adhering to client requirements and safety standards.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and plan the daily workload as part of a team.
  • Operate in a high-paced outdoor environment around moving equipment, vehicles, and trains.
  • Attend or facilitate pre-shift job briefings.
  • Complete pre and post shift inspections of equipment.
  • Operate various lift equipment such as overhead cranes and reach stackers to unload/load containers and trailers.
  • Safely lift and lower containers and trailers from elevated heights.
  • Ascend and descend railcars as needed.
  • Ensure all containers, trailers, and intermodal flatcars are properly secured.
  • Utilize terminal operating systems for yard inventory management.
  • In/out-gate over the road (OTR) drivers using technology devices.
  • Utilize Microsoft Office applications for various administrative tasks.
  • Report key performance metrics to leadership.
  • Develop relationships with Class one railroads terminal personnel.
  • Perform remote operations including operating cranes from remote workstations.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent intermodal facility experience.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean motor vehicle record (MVR).
  • Strong efficiency and time-management skills.
  • Ability to operate or learn computer systems required for terminal dynamics.
  • Ability to work outside in all weather conditions.
  • Experience running and maneuvering hostler equipment in tight spaces.
  • Experience operating heavy lift equipment such as rubber tire gantry cranes and reach stackers.

Nice-to-haves

  • Commercial driver's license (CDL) preferred but not required.
  • Willingness to work after hour call outs.
  • Willingness to work any shift.
  • Prior securement experience preferred.
