About the position

The Accounting and Finance Internship at Highgate Hotels offers a unique opportunity for undergraduate students to gain hands-on experience in the dynamic world of hospitality finance. This 10-week rotational program is designed to immerse interns in various aspects of accounting and finance, providing a comprehensive understanding of the financial operations that support Highgate's hotel property portfolio. Interns will work closely with the leadership team and participate in key financial processes, enhancing their skills and knowledge in a real-world setting.

Responsibilities

• Work alongside the Accounting and Finance, Treasury, Internal Controls leadership team in a rotational finance internship opportunity.
• Participate in month end close process, prepare journal entries, reconciliations and month end financial statements.
• Provide support on treasury, financial modelling, planning, reporting, budgeting and forecasting, analysis and reviews.
• Gain an understanding of SOX, internal controls, audit processes and procedures.
• Assist with various projects as needed.
• Must be able to multitask and prioritize departmental functions to meet deadlines.
• Must be able to maintain confidentiality of information.

Requirements

• Bachelor's in Accounting, Finance, or Hospitality Finance (in progress) or a similar degree.
• Minimum Junior status.
• Knowledge of accounting and/or finance principles.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel (pivot tables and reports) and PowerPoint skills.
• Must be organized with the ability to work accurately in a time efficient manner.
• Demonstrated communication, interpersonal and teamwork skills.
• Ability to participate in a summer internship program of 10 weeks (June 10th - August 16th 2024).
• You must reside in Dallas, TX during the internship and work a hybrid schedule.

Benefits

• $20/hour for 40 hour week for 10 weeks.
