About the position

Welcome to ConocoPhillips, where innovation and excellence create a platform for opportunity and growth. The ConocoPhillips Accounting & Finance summer internship program offers an exciting assignment that includes orientation, teambuilding, community service activities, weekly seminars, and opportunities to interact with upper management. Interns will receive periodic performance appraisals and coaching from their supervisors and assigned mentors throughout the internship. At the end of the internship, participants will present their work assignments and learnings to local management. Internships will be available at various locations including Bartlesville, Oklahoma; Houston, Texas; Midland, Texas; and Anchorage, Alaska. In Bartlesville, interns will work within the Financial Services and Internal Audit organizations, focusing on tasks such as booking revenue, managing receivables and payables, resolving payment disputes, and maintaining balance sheet reconciliations. In Houston, opportunities exist within Commercial Services, Controllers, Finance & Performance Analysis, Treasury, and Internal Audit, where interns will engage in monitoring product volume accuracy, invoicing, budgeting, financial statement analysis, and risk management. The typical length of internships ranges from 10 to 14 weeks, depending on the project and the intern's availability. This program is designed to provide valuable experience in the field of accounting and finance while fostering professional development and networking opportunities.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in orientation and teambuilding activities.
  • Engage in community service activities.
  • Attend weekly seminars and interact with upper management.
  • Receive performance appraisals and coaching from supervisors and mentors.
  • Complete assigned projects related to financial services or internal audit.
  • Present work assignments and learnings to local management at the end of the internship.

Requirements

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer and/or education institution.
  • Pursuing a Bachelor's degree or higher in Accounting, Finance, or other business equivalent or foreign equivalent.
  • Current level in college: Sophomore through Senior or Graduate Student.
  • Expected graduation date: Fall 2025 through Spring/Fall 2027.
  • Available for internship start mid-late May 2025.
  • A minimum of ten (10) continuous weeks availability for internship.

Nice-to-haves

  • 3+ hours of Accounting coursework completed.
  • Willingness to work in Bartlesville, OK, Houston, TX, Midland, TX, or Anchorage, AK.
  • A minimum cumulative and major GPA of 3.25 on a 4.0 scale.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to develop strong relationships based on trust and collaboration across organizational boundaries.
  • Demonstrated ownership of actions and accountability for commitments.
  • Understanding of how key financial and quantitative indicators impact the business.
