About the position

The Accounting & Finance summer internship program at ConocoPhillips offers students a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the energy sector. Interns will engage in various assignments, participate in orientation and team-building activities, and have the chance to interact with upper management. The program emphasizes personal development through performance appraisals and mentorship, culminating in a presentation to local management about the intern's work and learnings.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in orientation and team-building activities.
  • Engage in community service activities.
  • Attend weekly seminars and interact with upper management.
  • Complete assigned projects within Financial Services and Internal Audit organizations.
  • Book revenue and associated receivable and payable journal entries.
  • Pay partners for share of costs and resolve payment disputes.
  • Maintain balance sheet account reconciliations and process depreciation.
  • Assist in corporate accounting activities like debt, equity, and pension accounting.
  • Monitor product volume accuracy and assist in invoicing and payment of products.
  • Support forecasting, budgeting, and financial statement analysis.

Requirements

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
  • Pursuing a Bachelor's degree or higher in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent.
  • Current level in college: Sophomore through Senior or Graduate Student.
  • Expected graduation date: Fall 2025 through Spring/Fall 2027.
  • Available for internship start mid-late May 2025.
  • A minimum of ten (10) continuous weeks availability for internship.

Nice-to-haves

  • 3+ hours of Accounting coursework completed.
  • Minimum cumulative and major GPA of 3.25 on a 4.0 scale.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to develop strong relationships based on trust and collaboration.
  • Demonstrates ownership of actions and accountability.
  • Understanding of key financial and quantitative indicators.
