About the position

At Lucid, we are on a mission to redefine the luxury electric vehicle experience, and we are currently seeking an ADAS Sensor Hardware Intern for the Summer of 2025. This internship is an exciting opportunity for students who are passionate about electric vehicles and have a foundational understanding of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) sensors. As an intern, you will work closely with some of the most accomplished minds in the industry, contributing to the development of cutting-edge technology that enhances the driving experience and promotes sustainability. In this role, you will support the hardware development of various ADAS components, including cameras, Lidar, Radar, and Ultrasonic Sensors (USS). You will be involved in troubleshooting and identifying root causes of software issues, as well as electrical and electronic problems. Your responsibilities will include documenting these issues and driving them to resolution at both the module and vehicle levels. Additionally, you will assist in conducting Failure Mode Avoidance analyses to examine potential failure modes and design suitable prevention strategies. You will also play a key role in the packaging and integration of ADAS sensing components across various programs. Collaboration is essential in this position, as you will interface with other engineers, vehicle engineering teams, suppliers, and management to ensure compliance with required specifications. Creating test plans and methodologies to validate system and hardware requirements will also be part of your responsibilities, allowing you to apply your technical knowledge in a practical setting.

Responsibilities

  • Support hardware development for ADAS components like Camera, Lidar, Radar, USS etc.
  • Support troubleshooting and identify root causes of software issues, electrical and electronic problems, and document them.
  • Drive issues to resolution both at module and vehicle level.
  • Support Failure Mode Avoidance analyses to examine potential failure modes and design suitable prevention strategies.
  • Support the packaging and integration of ADAS Sensing components/modules on various programs.
  • Interface with other engineers, Vehicle Engineering, suppliers, and management to ensure compliance with required specifications.
  • Create test plans and methodologies to test and validate the system and hardware requirements.

Requirements

  • Basic understanding of ADAS Sensors.
  • Electrical Engineering background.
  • Understanding of electrical circuits and designing these components.
  • Understanding of the hardware development cycle.
  • Basic understanding of ADAS systems.
  • Understanding of vehicle-level communications such as CAN, GMSL, FPD Link, Ethernet etc.
  • Excellent communication skills and receptive to new knowledge.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Python programming languages.
  • Ownership mindset.
  • Previous experience working with camera, radar, or lidars.
  • Previous experience working with an OEM.
  • Experience working on drones, robotics, or related projects.
