About the position

At Lucid, we are committed to leading the future of luxury electric vehicles, and we are excited to offer a Summer Internship opportunity for an Audio Algorithm Signal Processing Engineer. This position is designed for resourceful and motivated individuals who are eager to contribute to our Audio Technology team. As an intern, you will work closely with our Algorithms and Software development teams under the mentorship of experienced engineers. Your primary focus will be on developing and implementing advanced audio signal processing algorithms that enhance the sound experience in our premier electric vehicles. The role involves designing, developing, and optimizing algorithms for various applications, including speech signal processing and high-fidelity sound playback. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to create innovative solutions that improve speech quality and enhance the listening experience within the car cabin. This internship offers extensive learning opportunities, allowing you to gain hands-on experience in a cutting-edge field while contributing to the advancement of audio technology in luxury vehicles. As part of your responsibilities, you will engage in tasks such as implementing and optimizing audio DSP algorithms in C and C++ for real-time processing on embedded hardware systems, researching state-of-the-art audio technologies, and collaborating with hardware engineers to ensure efficient algorithm implementation. You will also be involved in developing, testing, and debugging audio signal processing libraries and frameworks, performing comparative analysis and benchmarking of algorithms, and communicating regularly with senior engineers to provide updates and receive feedback. Responsibilities

  • Design and develop advanced audio signal processing algorithms for applications including acoustic echo reduction, noise reduction, sound enhancement, and spatial audio.
  • Implement and optimize audio DSP algorithms in C and C++ for real-time processing on embedded hardware systems.
  • Research state-of-the-art audio technologies and contribute to our intellectual property portfolio.
  • Collaborate with hardware engineers on the efficient implementation of algorithms on target platforms.
  • Develop, test, and debug audio signal processing libraries and frameworks.
  • Perform algorithm comparative analysis, benchmarking, and optimization to meet performance and quality targets.
  • Communicate regularly with senior engineers and other team members to provide progress updates and receive feedback.
  • Participate in team meetings and contribute to team projects as needed.

Requirements

  • Background in digital signal processing theory through coursework.
  • Familiarity with the application of digital signal processing on audio signals.
  • Familiarity with the application of machine learning tools and techniques on audio signals.
  • Demonstrated competency in C++ programming and performance optimization.
  • Knowledge of audio enhancement methods such as dynamics processing and spatial audio.
  • Familiarity with acoustics and psychoacoustics.
  • Exposure to real-time audio systems and real-time OS constraints.
  • Familiarity with numerical processing tools such as MATLAB, Python, NumPy, SciPy or similar.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated competency in communicating clearly to explain complex technical concepts.
  • Publications in peer-reviewed journals or conferences related to signal processing.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with audio signal processing libraries and frameworks.
  • Knowledge of embedded systems and hardware integration.
  • Familiarity with audio hardware components and their functionalities.
