About the position

The Automation Engineering Intern will support various engineering projects within a Marmon business unit or group-level engineering team. This role involves collaborating with team members to deliver advanced automated manufacturing technology and completing a capstone project over the summer, which will be presented to business leadership. The internship is designed for undergraduate or graduate students pursuing degrees in engineering or related fields, providing hands-on experience in a manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with other team members on various engineering and systems analysis projects
  • Use industrial & process engineering tools to evaluate existing and proposed new process improvement opportunities
  • Specify, design, build, and implement solutions in collaboration with senior engineering staff
  • Optimize performance of existing manufacturing machines and equipment by upgrading hardware and modifying programs
  • Evaluate and test new equipment to facilitate automation of manufacturing processes

Requirements

  • Actively pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in Engineering, Science, or related field
  • Rising junior or senior academic status
  • Strong interest in applying engineering knowledge to practical problems
  • Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines
  • Excellent problem solving and critical thinking skills
  • Superb organizational skills
  • Interest in technology and process improvement
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
  • No previous experience required
